Who fears Chinese leader Xi Jinping's visit to Moscow?

On the eve of the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin dedicated an article to this event in the Chinese newspaper Renmin Zhibao, a correspondent for The Moscow Post reports.

When a friend comes from far away, it is certainly joy. But not for everyone. The fact that the leaders of Russia and China announced friendship "without borders" in the West was noticed a year ago, when The New York Times published an article "Relations" without restrictions "do not leave China with options for Ukraine." Then it was about the Joint Statement of Russia and China of February 4, 2022 "On international relations entering a new era and global sustainable development."

In particular, the fact that "Russia and China oppose the actions of external forces to undermine security and stability in common neighboring regions, intend to resist the interference of external forces under any pretext in the internal affairs of sovereign countries."

A year later, the same authors, also in the March 17 issue of the NYT, stated that "Beijing maintains deep strategic ties with Moscow as a like-minded nuclear power that seeks to weaken Washington's geopolitical dominance."

The visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping, among other things, means another step in this direction. Observers, including those in America and Europe, will have to consider what Beijing called "China's position on a political solution to the Ukrainian crisis."

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said that the trip of the head of the PRC to Russia will be a "visit of the world." According to the assistant to the Russian president Yuri Ushakov, during the talks, the leaders will discuss military-technical cooperation and energy, as well as the Ukrainian conflict.

The editors of the China Daily newspaper note that the visit can be considered as a concrete step by Beijing to resolve the crisis in Ukraine and restore peace in Eurasia.

Two "de" for the world

An integral part of resolving the crisis around Ukraine should be the lifting of all sanctions and lawsuits against Russia, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a comment on Saturday. According to her, the achievement of a sustainable peace requires the cessation of the supply of weapons and mercenaries to Ukraine, the completion of hostilities, the return of Ukraine to a neutral non-block status. It finally requires international recognition of the new territorial realities and the right of the people to self-determination.

"Demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine should be carried out, all threats emanating from its territory should be eliminated, nuclear-free status and guarantees of respect for the rights of the Russian-speaking population and national minorities should be enshrined. An integral part should be the abolition of all illegal sanctions and lawsuits against Russia in international courts, "Zakharova added.

She also recommended that all countries that want to contribute to the normalization of the situation address their calls for peace to Kyiv and its "Western puppeteers, increasingly dragging Ukraine into a dangerous funnel of global confrontation."

Uncle Sam pricked up the ears …

The USA and the countries of Europe "is disappointed" with diplomatic and economic support of Russia, David Pearson and Vivian Wang write in that article prepared for The New York Times. They mention the document "Position of China on the Political Solution of the Ukrainian Crisis", but speak about his rejection by the West.

Note that China "never criticized Russia", I accepted the Kremlin position that NATO provoked the conflict. China is concerned about delay in the conflict and the fact that it can "get out of hand", calls it "crisis".

Authors paid attention that the representative the Chinese Foreign Ministry Wang Wenbin though told that China is ready to undertake a role of the intermediary, considers that the tough way of the West to Russia, "unilateral sanctions" and "extraordinary pressure" only aggravate crisis.

During phone call of the Foreign Minister of China Qin Gang with Dmitry Kuleboy the head of the Chinese diplomatic service told that Beijing "will continue to play a constructive role in the termination of the conflict, mitigation of crisis and peace restoration".

Who doesn't want peace?

Assessment of the Chinese peace proposals and areas of coincidence of interests of Moscow and Beijing, Seth Kropsi who served on the fleet and in Head department of US Navy made. In his article for the The Hill edition focused on congressmen and other participants of the nitty-gritty of politics it is claimed:

1. China opposes "mentality of Cold War" and the NATO alliance,

2. in the long term Beijing intends to break away Europe from the USA,

3. America as the extraregional player, interferes in the Eurasian affairs,

4. sanctions are the tool of the third-party, extraregional power,

5. the victory of Russia in the conflict with NATO in Ukraine corresponds to the interests of China.

According to Kropsi, the aim which is pursued by Beijing is that: "All parties have to support Russia and Ukraine, that is all parties have to leave the Eurasian question to the discretion of Eurasians". Agree that these conclusions drawn not in Moscow or Beijing show that some Americans are capable to understand too what it is about.

But not all agree with these estimates, as well as with plans of Beijing to settle the conflict. The strategic communications coordinator in National Security council of the White House John Kirby hurried to say that the USA won't agree with an appeal to the truce in Ukraine if it sounds following the results of a meeting of the Russian President Vladimir Putin with the Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The President of Russia Vladimir Putin and the Chinese President Xi Xi Jinping "agreed that on March 20 they will publish articles in ''Renmin Ribao'' and in Rossiyskaya Gazeta, respectively.

"We connect high expectations with the forthcoming negotiations. We don't doubt that they will give a new powerful impulse to all complex of bilateral cooperation", - Vladimir Putin to article "Russia and China — the Partnership Directed in the Future" for the Renmin Zhibao newspaper emphasized. Her Russian text is published on the Kremlin website.

There is a lot of expectations from the forthcoming negotiations. The Russian specialists in obvious reasons emphasize the role and value of Russia. The director of Institute of China and modern Asia of RAS Kirill Babayev, for example, believes that Beijing not accidentally took the part of Russia in the conflict with the West. He sees in it guarantee of overcoming the international isolation of Moscow, calls the developing design "rather strong alliance" taking into account participation in him of other countries interested in weakening of hegemony of the USA.

It should be noted, as from the Chinese side hopes for success in confrontation with Anglo-Saxons prevail. It is considered that in the conditions of the amplifying international instability of the relation of Moscow and Beijing "are of particular importance and influence, are beyond a far bilateral format". Such assessment was sounded by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China Wang Wenbingom.

It is more than how notes the Chinese state agency Xinhua, Russia and China play an important role in such formats as SCO and BRICS thanks to which "together with other members of these organizations play an active role in reforming of a system of global economic governance, strengthen influence on the international and regional issues".

Long and laborious work during which all participants of "reform of global management" should resist to the skillful West from him "the principles of so-called gold one billion" is necessary.

"Russian-Chinese relations actually act today as a cornerstone of regional and global stability, stimulate economic growth, serve as the guarantor of the positive agenda in the international affairs. They – a model of harmonious creative cooperation between major powers", - Vladimir Putin in article for "Renmin Zhibao" said.
