Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova answered questions from a journalist at The Moscow Post about Kazakhstan and about Russia's negotiations with the United States and NATO.

Note, first of all, that, according to the diplomat, during the riots in Kazakhstan, the Russians were not injured.

Maria Zakharova, answering one of the questions of The Moscow Post journalist, said that the situation in the education system of Kazakhstan is as follows: the number of schools with instruction in Russian is 1160 (for which it is 16.5-16.6% of the total number of schools in the country). And with mixed education there are 2047 schools - this is almost 30%.

"At the same time, Russian is taught as a subject in all schools of the republic. Two branches of the Russian World Foundation operate in Kazakhstan... With the financial assistance of the Fund for the Support and Protection of the Rights of Compatriots who Live Abroad, there are two Legal Aid Centers, "Zakharova also added.

"As for the Russians injured during these tragic events in Kazakhstan, according to information that we receive from Russian diplomatic institutions, Russian citizens were not injured during the riots," the Foreign Ministry spokesman assured.

The next question already concerned the recent negotiations between the Russian Federation and the United States, as well as the meeting of the Russia-NATO Council. These events occurred in January 2022.

"Will the results of negotiations with the United States and NATO be discussed within the framework of the CSTO and the SCO or on a bilateral basis?" - asked the journalist of The Moscow Post.

Maria Zakharova replied that within the framework of allied relations between the CSTO member states, there is a long tradition of mutual information about the main foreign policy contacts.

"Naturally, this can apply to the negotiation process on security guarantees that started in January," she explained.

There is still a practice of informing close partners about key aspects of all foreign policy activities. At the same time, the diplomat noted that this is not only about the experience of Russia.

"A lot of countries... they also use this tool, "she said.

Maria Zakharova recalled that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, during a recent conversation with a colleague from China, Wang Yi, has already shared his first impressions of the negotiations between the Russian Federation and the United States on security guarantees in Europe that began in Geneva.

"If we talk directly about security issues, then the SCO twentieth anniversary declaration adopted in Dushanbe in September 2021 confirmed the consolidated approach of the Organization's member states to the formation of equal, joint, indivisible, integrated and sustainable security," the representative of the Russian ministry said.

She added that the SCO member countries take "a very active position on the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, on the prevention of an arms race, on the non-placement of weapons in space, etc. Moreover, according to her, "the issue of global security and strategic stability has a direct projection on the national interests of each state and the world as a whole.

"Well, for the SCO participants, among whom there are leading global regional players, including nuclear powers, these issues are especially relevant," Maria Zakharova summed up.

Recall that the telephone conversation between Sergei Lavrov and Van Yi mentioned by the representative of the Foreign Ministry took place on January 10. In particular, the Russian Foreign Minister informed his colleague about the negotiations between the delegations of Russia and the United States on security guarantees in Europe.
